Regional Competitiveness Index (RCI) recently published its first edition by the European Commission.
as published by the European Commission, this index would be equal to 35.8 for Sicily, as the places to the 213th place among 235 European regions, and the remaining southern context the index is equal to 36.6, l ' Island does better than some of the smaller regions (Calabria, Molise, Basilicata and Sardinia) but is detached from the larger regions and in particular from Puglia (36.0) and especially from Campania, which has an index of 40.6. In any case, the competitiveness of Sicily is nearly half that of Lombardi a, which is of course the highest among the Italian regions with 65.3, but only finishing the 95th place on the list at the European level. Factors affecting more about these defaillance of our region are those affecting the effectiveness of basic education (up to secondary school level) in terms of skills acquired by students, the level of education and lifelong learning workforce and, most importantly, the efficiency of the labor market.
